FOFriday 114: Note from A Sickbed

I hope you are suitably impressed with my dedication to duty - I have dragged myself from my sickbed, mopped my fevered brow, managed to find both slippers, flung several warm layers of clothing on, and oozed outside to take pics of The Hat, hampered only by my inability to breathe.

You know, the pretty one that I totally failed to be able to start, and so Steph did it for me. 

Once started, the pattern is pretty straightforward, and lacy without being too full of holes for a winter hat.

The pattern is 'Raindrops on Roses Beret' but it can just as well be worn as a slouchy hat, which is Mini Diva's preference:

The yarn is once again James C.Brett Moonlight Sonata, this time in the exciting colorway SM2, otherwise more approachably known as shades of blue; it's a real shame that the sparkles don't show up well in photos.

The hat only used up about 150m of the 500m ball of yarn, leaving plenty over to make a matching scarf, or as actually requested, a Victorian-style neckwarmer instead.

FO Friday 50: Small Things

The final Friday of the summer holidays ... Destructo Boy is fully kitted out for the new school year; Mini Diva ... not so much. I have postponed the purgatory that is uniform shopping for her until tonight, when I can make the suffering joint by including DH in the process. I already did the shoe-shopping without murdering her, so my place in a martyr's heaven is assured.

Since UberCool Brother's Scarf, and the Lilac Vintage Cabled Sweater seem to be such slow movers, instead I finished the hat made with the leftover ball of Robin Picasso Chunky; because of the modifications I made (which included a row of eyelets especially so we could have ribbon), it doesn't look so much like the beret of the pattern, but a rather dinky mob cap kind of thing. Regardless, it fits, all her hair fits in/under it, it'll be lovely and toasty warm in winter, and she looks super-cute in it:








































And the first soap of the new season is out of the molds (custom molds !), an unscented, uncolored Oatmeal, Honey & Goatsmilk that is currently nameless ....
