Leaving on a Jet Plane

After many hours burning the midnight oil, trawling Ravelry and her blog, red-eyed, bleary and overcaffeinated ..... actually, Not. My swapee seemed easy to find gifts for. I say 'seemed' because I don't know yet if I got them right. I thoroughly enjoyed putting it together, even so.

This was my box:

It needed to go to my swapee in the USA. Declining to pay the iniquitous postal charges of the Royal Mail (£35 ! that's $55), Google was mi amigo, and therefore my box started the 1st leg of its journey like this:

It was received on Monday 13th ....and one of the nice things about losing one's memory is that whatever is in her box will be almost as big a surprise to me.

Edited to add: as of midnight Weds. 15th Feb. my package is still not being blogged about, although all the packages have been opened in one go,  and bunged back into the box, apparently to be blogged about on an ad hoc basis. There's more I could say, but I deleted it.

  1. This looks a luffly box of stuff to receive!!! I like the Union Flag motif.

The cost of posting things to the US is very high. I sent 3 packets of biscuits and was appalled at the price of it. We can't use Fed Ex because we're on the island - we'd need a carrier to get to Fed Ex first of all. Not ideal :-)

Good luck with the blog post about your box!

  2. Oh no, that's awful. I bet you are broken hearted. I just want to thank you for the heads up regarding that carrier service. It saved me £10. Plus I like that Fedex came to me. When you are disabled that is a BIG plus. I really hope your box of goodies makes you feel happier than you do at the moment. You have done a sterling job on this swap and you deserve to smile at the end of the it all.

  3. That sucks :( I saw your recipients first post this morning, but I didn't realise there was a non-fun background to it all.

I've loved this swap, and am grateful to you for organising it, so I hate that you as the organiser have had something disappointing happen.

  4. Oh no! It's such a lovely box of goodies too... I hope your box cheers you up. This has been such a fun event for me so far and I'm so sorry it has not been as fun for you.

  5. I'm so sorry things relative to your blogger swap swag pack haven't gone as planned. Perhaps it is a misunderstanding? I can't imagine that any of us would intentionally do anything to hurt you or derail this wonderful exchange.
Also, I want to thank you for organizing all of us, and for prompting us to chat up what we are doing. I really don't think I have ever had so much fun shopping for gifts, and imagine, for a total stranger. I will ship my package at noon and will send it the speediest route possible.

  6. I have hesitated to comment because it's probably none of my business and I don't know the details... but I don't really see what's so bad about your swappee opening all the packages at once. I seem to recall when I participated in this swap last year, my swap partner opened them all at once, but blogged about them day by day. Anyway, just my 2 cents :)
