FO Friday 22/15: Competition Winner 2015 !

Prarie Tarot

So you may remember that my final post for the 6th Annual Knitting & Crochet Blog week was a competition .... I used a randomizer thingy, and the number selected was:

Which means that the winner is Chris from Chrisknits ! Chris and I have been Rav- and blog-friends for quite a while, so I know she'll make good use of her prize - if I survive the stashdiving experience without suffocating myself in mounds of yarn. Chris, PM me your snail mail address through Ravelry, and I'll pop something in the post for you ...

Thank you everyone who took the time to comment and/or create an entry ...

6KCBWDAY5: Something Almost Different

Joie de Vivre Tarot

Alll-most there - day 5 out of 7, and today's 6th Annual Knitting & Crochet Week prompt is:

Day Five (Friday 15th May): Something A Bit Different
It’s the annual challenge to blog in a way different to how you normally blog. You may choose to create a podcast, or vlog, create a wordless post, a beautiful infographic or write in verse. You can post on any topic you like, but be sure to post in a style different from your usual blog presentation. There’s not too much guidance for this one simply because the more varied the posts are on this day, the wider the sources of information for other bloggers will be.

There was an old woman from Ipswich
         Who spent some time learning to slip stitch;
         Once she had learned how
She said, 'Look at me now -
Crocheting without even one glitch !'

I know.

I am sorry.

I am so sorry.

 I am very sorry.

I am so very sorry.

I am so very, very sorry.

I am ... you get the idea.

Really, I am so apologetic I might even be English. But after the haikus and cinquains of recent years, this poor limerick is all I could come up with.

As a reward - or maybe it is punishment - I shall again offer you the opportunity to also inflict mental and emotional abuse on my readers (as I did here) by submitting your very own verse: it can be any accepted form of verse, for example, iambic pentameter, epigram, haiku, sonnet, etc. ... The winner will receive a marvellous mystery prize from me.

Conditions of Entry:

 Open to international entries
Closing date Fri.22nd May
Winner will be chosen by random number generator.
Winner will be announced on the blog.
Please make sure I can contact you for your address.

There will be many interesting offerings today - find them by putting 6KCBWDAY5 into Google.

Fanfare for the Winner

So what with everything, builders and rain (both are still here, after a brief weekend respite) I totally forgot that there was a competition to be judged and won !

It was the poetry competition of Day 5 of this year's Knit & Crochet Blog Week: there weren't as many entries as last year, so I have put them here for your delectation:

Paradise
Cluttered Disheveled
Hunting Digging Finding
$2.49 bag of Noro
Thrift Shop

The knitting needles sound,
Click clack click.
I had to frog this round
Because I dropped another stitch.

Creative brain? I'm insane....and I have the stash to show it!

The Zauberball (or 'Why They Are Pretty, But Not So Easily Manageable As A Centre-Pull Ball, But We Forgive Them, Because They are Pretty'). By Mimi Poe Hill. Aged 33⅓.

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary,
Over a many quaint and curious pattern in the Ravelry Store,
While my needles, gently clicking, around the yarn, softly tickling,
Pointy needles softly pricking, fingers held aloft for stitches more,
While the ball, slowly unravels, unravels all over the front room floor -
Over carpet, out the door.

Feeling myself totally unqualified to choose a winner, I asked Alison of Hestia's Larder to choose, as she used to be an Editor and is an Author too.
She chose 'The Zauberball' by Mimi of Eskimimi Makes.

Congratulations, Mimi !  Something yarny will be wending its way to you as soon as you email me your snail mail address ...

Thank you to those who took part ... come back next year for another try.

3KCBWDAY5: Something a Bit Different

Tarot of the New Vision

Something a Bit Different

It's back, and this time it has the most amazing of prizes (look for the prize for 'most creative post'). This was a massive success last year, and for many it was the highlight of the Blog Week, so this year you are challenged, again, to find a new way of blogging.

This is an experimental blogging day to try and push your creativity in blogging to the same level that you perhaps push your creativity in the items you create. There are no rules of a topic to blog about, but this post should look at a different way to present content on your blog.

The grand prize for Knitting and Crochet Blog Week, as donated by JenACKnitwear and Fyberspates will be given to the most creative blog post after a nomination and voting round, and due to the immensity of the prize it really is worth putting a bit of time and effort into this. At the very least you will get an amazing post out of it.

Well, I didn't quite know what to do, as inspiration has been sadly lacking. So I thought I would inflict some poetry on you - but not just my own;  oh no, I am far more wicked and evil devious  generous and encouraging than that. I shall also inflict other people's poetry on you. I might even make you inflict torture gift us with the blessing of your own carefully wrought rhyming stanzas, if you are not very, very careful.

But hey ! There is a plus side. There will be a prize, so make sure I have a way of contacting you ... entries must be in by Friday 4th May, 2012.

Do please feel free to nominate this post here.

So without further ado, the apparently hardcore poet that is me proudly presents my very own cinquain:

                                                              Competition

                                                          Knitting, poetry

                                                  Ponder, verse, comment

                                                  Creative brain wins yarn

                                                                     Enter !

And the Winner is ....

After a little tech help from Mimi and Mags, I managed to not only use a random number generator, but take a snap for proof - the winner of my 2nd Annual April Fool's contest is Holly Priestley! Congratulations, Holly !
And her entry was:

Knitting time today
Knit one, Purl Two, Yarn Over Time for nothing else

There were 20 bona fide entries - thank you to everybody who entered; I loved the wide variety of styles and thoroughly enjoyed reading everyone's poetry. I am so impressed that your creativity doesn't stop at knitting/crocheting .... the entries can be seen here.
