FO Friday 34: The Meanings of Finished

Of course, when I actually have a completed FO for Friday, Blogger breaks and I can't post: but hey, if that's the worst thing that happens to me on Friday 13th, then that's cool. The children had chocolate cake for breakfast because I told them it was The Law as it prevents bad luck on Friday 13th; and see ? it worked - no broken limbs or anything today.

I am the law: sit down in your jammies and prepare to eat cake !

You will, of course, recall my travails with the Waves of Leaves shawl; it is complete, washed and blocked; here it is modelled by Mini Diva ....

And here is another finished object - but not quite in the way we usually think of on FO Friday:

In spite of the slug pellets, something has feasted on my basil; I fear it is mortally wounded. Don't forget to pop over to Tami's Amis for more successful projects ....

  1. That shawl is gorgeous - and I am loving your 'eat cake' rule. Although I never need a reason to eat chocolate cake!

  7. Your shawl is gorgeous & your model did a spectacular job of showing it to best advantage.

My great-grandfather used to recommend cake or pie for breakfast, as long as we had a glass of milk to keep it balanced. I had no idea it would keep bad luck away :-)

  8. Your shawl is beautiful!!!

I'm sorry to hear about your basil. My parents are currently waging war against slugs and snails in their orchid greenhouse. Seems no place is safe. :(

  9. Gorgeous shawl, I love it. Having just eaten a chocolate chip cookie for breakfast (well, pre-breakfast) I love the cake idea! I'm going to bet that even with the pellets it is STILL slugs, because I can't keep them off mine. You might try a band of copper coil/tape around it, they can't cross copper. It should be available at garden centers or DIY stores.

  10. Don't worry about the basil! Mine looked like that about 3 days ago. As of this writing it is working very hard to claim space from the parsley. Naughty plant.

  11. Can you bring your law to my house ... please? LOL. I love it "sit down in your jammies and eat cake" ... too funny.

Mini Diva's a beautiful model with a beautiful piece of work. I can't wait until I do my first shawl. You ladies inspire me.
